I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself properly and explain why I’m launching this project. This post will also serve as the foundation for the “What This Is About” section of the blog.

Who Am I?

My name is David, I’m 36, and I’m an executive at a startup.

I’ve spent my entire career in eCommerce—building websites, optimizing funnels, launching products, and running marketing campaigns. I’ve worked with big brands, startups, and everything in between. I’ve started small businesses, ran a marketing agency, developed some fun software, and along the way, I’ve traveled a lot and really enjoyed life.

I’m in a great position right now:

  • I have a fantastic partner.
  • I’m actively working on my health.
  • I make a solid salary.
  • I genuinely enjoy what I do.

From the outside, things look pretty great. And they are.

But something’s been gnawing at me for a while.

So Why This Project?

I feel like I’ve been right on the edge of hitting a seven-figure net worth for years. I’ve learned how to invest. I know how to grow businesses. And if I just keep doing what I’m doing, I’ll probably get there eventually.

But eventually isn’t good enough anymore.

At some point in the last few years, my mindset shifted. Maybe it’s an early midlife crisis. Maybe it’s FOMO. Maybe I’ve spent too much time scrolling through the FAT FIRE subreddit and seeing people hit the numbers I know I could reach.

Whatever the reason, I’ve come to realize something:

I could do more. I could do it better. And I could do it faster.

And I want to do more. Because I don’t just want to hit $1M and call it a day—I want the freedom that comes with not having to work, so I can focus on the things that truly excite me.

But right now, I keep jumping from one thing to another, never fully committing, because I don’t have the structure in place to execute at scale.

What’s Different This Time?

I’ve identified my biggest flaw: I like doing too many things at once.

In the past, that led to half-finished projects, distractions, and never fully maximizing any one thing before moving on to the next. If I want to build something big, I need a better system.

So this time, I’m doing things differently.

  1. I’m focusing on one main project. No distractions. No jumping around. Just relentless execution on a single goal.
  2. I’m building a war chest. The first milestone is $1M in cash/assets I can leverage. This isn’t about quitting everything and retiring—it’s about having a financial parachute.
  3. The $1M is my baseline security. If everything I try fails, I can draw from investment returns to cover base expenses without compromising my lifestyle. This lets me take bigger swings without the fear of complete failure.

This is Step 1: Hit $1M as fast as possible.

I’m not trying to get rich for the sake of getting rich. I’m trying to build something bigger than myself. I want the freedom to work on passion projects without worrying about money. I want to be able to take calculated risks without feeling like I’m gambling my future.

With $1M properly invested, I know I can:

  • Cover a comfortable lifestyle if needed.
  • Travel without worrying about finances.
  • Free up mental space to focus on something huge.

This blog is going to be my accountability partner. I’ll document everything—the wins, the mistakes, the thought process behind decisions, and the tools I’m using to move faster.

That’s it for today. Step 1 begins now.

Talk tomorrow.
