Yesterday was one of the hardest days of my career. Today, I’m still feeling the weight of it.

When something like this happens, there’s an immediate aftermath—a rush of emotions, conversations, and uncertainty. Then comes the quiet. The reality settling in. The part where you have to process what just happened while also figuring out how to move forward.

I might need a couple of days to do that.

Right now, my focus needs to shift—at least temporarily. I hate the idea of putting this project on hold, but I also know that when a storm hits, you don’t keep sailing blindly—you focus on navigating to shore.

Absorbing the Impact and Supporting the Team

The reality of today is this: same workload, fewer people, higher expectations.

For the people still here, their world just changed. They’re navigating the same emotions, but with the added weight of knowing that their responsibilities just expanded overnight. Some are picking up tasks from teammates who are no longer here. Some are unsure of what the next few months will look like. Everyone is looking for some sense of stability in the uncertainty.

That’s where my focus is right now.

As an executive, it’s my job to absorb some of that impact—to make sure people don’t burn out, to help them transition into their new reality, to set priorities that are actually manageable.

It’s a tough balance. The expectations are higher than ever, but pushing too hard, too fast will only break the people we need to keep this whole thing moving.

So I’m doing what I can to:

  • Make sure people don’t feel like they’re drowning—reassessing workloads, seeing where we can streamline.
  • Give clear direction—because uncertainty is exhausting, and people need to know what’s expected.
  • Be available—because after a day like yesterday, people have questions, concerns, and emotions that need space.

This part of leadership is never talked about enough. It’s not just about making decisions and driving business forward—it’s about taking care of the people who are left behind.

What Comes Next?

Right now, I’m doing what needs to be done.

This project isn’t stopping. But I need a minute to take a breath and to focus on navigating the immediate storm before I can go full throttle again.

I’ll be back at it soon—probably with even more fire than before.

But today? Today is about making sure the people around me are okay.

Talk soon.
